It’s the most wonderful time of the year for the faithful television watcher. The fall lineup has been solidified, and we’re in the house cozying up for a night of Netflix/Apple TV/Hulu and chillin’. With so many options available on the many streaming platforms, I decided to look inward for some referrals. Our team loves a variety of genres, from comedy to animated sci-fi, and had some great suggestions on what to watch this fall. Here’s their lineup of favorite shows.

Only Murders in the Building

Streaming Platform: Hulu

Genre: Comedy

Nova Coker

This comedy is popular among the AAE crew. “Only Murders” is a who-done-it murder/comedy/drama about three strangers who become friends and investigate a strange series of murders in their apartment building, all the while recording a podcast about each murder. With a star-studded cast and a rotating list of well-known guests, the murder mystery continues with twists and turns that captivate the audience. Now in its fourth season, the show has no signs of stopping as one of Hulu’s top original series.

What Keeps You Watching? “Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are the comedy trio we didn’t know we needed. And all of the guest stars every season are golden. Meryl Streep! Paul Rudd! Tina Fey! The list goes on and on…” – Nova Coker, CP Business Affairs Manager

Bad Monkey

Streaming Platform: Apple+

Genre: Comedy/Crime Drama

Marly Black

Comedian Vince Vaughn is known for mostly his ventures into comedy, and Bad Monkey is no exception. Vaughn, as Andrew Yancy, is a former detective turned health inspector who can’t get out of the detective business in Miami. Soon enough, he continued working as an investigator anyway. Hilarity ensues as Yancy does all the wrong things for the right reasons. The show has good dark humor, plays partially on Andros, and the accents are really enjoyable. Bonus: the narrator is very cynical. Expect appearances from stars Michelle Monaghan, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Zach Braff

What Keeps You Watching? “It’s good dark humor! After several episodes, you just want to know what will happen! Are the bad guys going to get away with it? What other crazy stuff will Vaughn get himself involved in?” – Marly Black, Senior Director of Talent Relations

Scavenger’s Reign

Streaming Platform: Netflix

Genre: Adventure, Animated, SciFi

Anna Grissino

If you’re a fan of animation with an enthralling plot, Scavenger’s Reign is an Emmy-winning journey that follows the stranded crew of a damaged deep-space freighter on a breathtaking and deadly planet. The hauntingly beautiful landscape and mysterious creatures create a thrilling atmosphere, while the crew’s struggle for survival is filled with tension and surprises. Featuring Sunita Mani and Alia Shawkat in key roles, this series combines stunning visuals with a story that captures life’s unpredictable challenges on an alien planet.

What Keeps You Watching? “Beautiful animation, beautiful voice acting, and incredible writing!”- Anna Grissino, Office Support Specialist

Tell Me Lies

Streaming Platform: Hulu

Genre: Drama

Kaela Bath

Told through the lens of college romance, Tell Me Lies dives deep into the toxic relationship between Lucy and Stephen, capturing the complexities and emotional intensity of young love. This Hulu original with actor Tom Ellis unearths how relationships can impact us long after they end, exploring how love, lust, and betrayal intertwine. With complex characters and a story that examines human vulnerability, Tell Me Lies keeps viewers invested in every twist and unraveling truth.

What Keeps You Watching? “This show makes you come back each week excitedly to find out what’s next! You can never fully anticipate the events that will unfold, which keep you coming back for more!” – Kaela Bath, Junior Logistics Manager

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

Streaming Platform: Amazon Prime Video

Genre: Fantasy

Evan Owens

Set thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power brings Tolkien’s Second Age of Middle-earth to life with breathtaking visuals, legendary characters, and epic storylines. Following the rise of Sauron, the creation of the Rings of Power, and the battles between elves, dwarves, and men, this series is a treat for both fans of Tolkien and newcomers. With an ensemble cast, including Benjamin Walker and Morfydd Clark, the show blends stunning visuals with an immersive fantasy world that draws viewers into the richness of Middle-earth.

What Keeps You Watching? “I’ve enjoyed the Lord of the Rings films since I was a kid. I don’t pretend to be a super fan who can name every character’s backstory, but I appreciate that the franchise tells a story that’s easy to lose yourself in (and, of course, those epic battle scenes). For Rings of Power, I like that each episode is nearly an hour, so you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck. The show creators put that massive budget to good use — the visuals are stunning, and the effects are movie quality. This prequel series has made a valiant effort to live up to the franchise’s prestige — a losing battle from the start, but one that it has fought with honor.” – Evan Owens, Marketing Communications Manager

Veep

Streaming Platform: Max (formerly HBO Max)

Genre: Political Comedy, Drama

Carly Chier

For those who love satire and political humor, Veep is a comedic gem that delivers sharp, laugh-out-loud moments throughout its seven-season run. Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as Selina Meyer, a vice president whose road to political relevance is riddled with incompetence, absurdity, and questionable ethics. With an ensemble cast including Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Timothy Simons, Gary Cole, Sam Richardson, and Reid Scott, Veep brilliantly pokes fun at the chaos and unpredictability of U.S. politics, all while giving us some of the most memorable lines in modern television.

What Keeps You Watching? “I actually had never seen VEEP before, and since we were approaching a presidential election, it felt like the perfect time! I can’t imagine a better time to be watching it for the first time. It’s simultaneously interesting and terrifying to see the parallels between the political satire and the current state of American politics.”- Carly Chier, Talent Specialist

Each of these shows has something unique, whether it’s the dark humor of Bad Monkey, the heart-pounding mystery in Only Murders in the Building, or the lush fantasy world in The Rings of Power. As the nights get colder, there’s no better time to grab your favorite blanket and a bowl of popcorn and dive into one of these fantastic series. Happy streaming!
