Dimi Yar Biography

Dimi Yar left the corporate world in 2022 to launch VOSA Income Inequality Solutions and later a "SHARE25" non-profit to advocate for Tenure-based Profit-Sharing as a better alternative to raising Taxes or Minimum Wages in a free-market economy that will unite rather than divide employees and employers around the common purpose of their enterprise, built on the foundation of respect, fair treatment, and fair pay.

Born and raised in the USSR, Yar immigrated to the US at the age of 20, graduated with Honors from the New York University’s Stern School of Business with Accounting and Finance degrees, and pursued a 25-year-long career in Finance Services with the world’s leading firms, such as PWC, Deutsche Bank, AIG, and Allianz, before realizing that he may have stumbled upon an elegant solution to the Income Inequality and Workforce crises, that has been absent from political and business debates. He was keen on raising awareness of this overlooked yet profound solution as part of the New Compensation Philosophy and the broader "Socio-Economic New Deal for the Free-Market Democracies".

Having lived and been successful in both worlds – the Soviet and American/European, Yar brings a nuanced yet profound understanding of the Pros and Cons of the Soviet style of Socialism and the American and European styles of Capitalism. Having lived through the break-up of the Soviet Union and looking back at his corporate experience, he urges not to lose hope for a better future and "give up" but instead use critical "first principles" thinking to understand the root causes of today’s crises and focus on finding and implementing meaningful solutions. He warns against falling into the view that "the grass is always greener on the other side" and insists that fixing what is broken is orders of magnitude easier than building something new just to be faced with new problems. His motto is to "Replace Problems with Solutions, not with Other Problems."

    Here we will explore the symptoms and root causes of the Income Inequality Crisis facing the Western World today, and settle the question of whether CEOs are really paid too much or employees are paid too little?

    Then we will look at the Pros and Cons of Taxes, Minimum Wages, Employee Stock Ownership and Employee Profit-Sharing as the potential tools of solving the crises, and pick a winner.

    Then we will look at the critical gaps in our compensation systems and in the workplace in general (Trust Gap, Recognition Gap, Participation Gap) and explain these gaps from the perspective of our outdated and flawed (incomplete) view of the true economic value of the employee to the employer.     Here we will contrast "Social Equity" as a concept about addressing and minimizing individual disadvantages vs "Pay Equity" as a concept focused on systemic, consistent, transparent, objective, fair and meaningful non-discriminatory reward for the advantages.

    We will then contract Pay Equity vs Pay Equality, and present Pay Equity as a multi-factor Pay Equality.

    I will provide examples of what an Equitable Compensation structure would look like, and make it clear that Pay Transparency can only bring its intended results after Pay Equity is implemented.

    I will then provide an example of a Job Ad of the Future, generated by a "fantasy" company that implemented Pay Equity, which means they are now able to provide exact "Pay Factors" and their values to the applicants, which are consistent with those of their current employees, allowing applicants and the company to calculate exactly what Salary will be offered (no need for a Salary Range). Note: my view of Pay Equity is fully supported by the recent EU Pay Equity and Pay Transparency laws.

    Finally, we will "Imagine" what the workplace and the world would look like if all companies and organizations implemented Pay Equity and Pay Transparency."
