Michael Landers has spent twenty-five years studying how people misread each other, and what it costs them.

Founder of Culture Crossing, LLC, he has put the same set of questions to more than 125,000 people from over 75 countries and five continents — executives, engineers, salespeople and students, public and private, across every major sector. The answers are remarkably consistent. What they show is how reliably the mind mistakes its own programming for the way things are.

His argument for this moment is straightforward: AI can tell you what someone said. It cannot tell you what they meant. As machines absorb the analytical work, what is left is the judgment nobody has been trained for. Reading a room. Telling real understanding from fluent description. Knowing when your own default is running the decision.

    Every judgment a person makes runs through a template they did not choose. It decides what looks competent, what reads as respect, what counts as a real answer. Most people never see theirs.

    This session makes the template visible, then asks the harder question: what is it deciding about you?

    Nobody is told any of this. They experience it. Ten minutes in, the audience answers one of those research questions and discovers that half said one thing, half said another, and everyone assumed theirs was obvious. Every idea arrives the same way: a short piece of theory, a live experience, a real conversation about it, and something to apply.

    People leave with specific practices rather than principles. Small, concrete moves they can use tomorrow, each one grounded in what 125,000 answers actually show.

    They also laugh, out loud, more than once. They tell someone that night. And weeks later, they are still catching themselves mid-assumption, which is the only real proof that any of it took hold.
