Robert W. Mixon, Jr. Biography
Robert W. Mixon, Jr. is a retired United States Army Major General, best-selling author, corporate executive, speaker, and Leadership and Strategic Planning Expert specializing in corporate cultural change management. He has served in key leadership roles in both for-profit and not-for-profit companies.
He is the founder of Level Five Associates, a corporate consulting company that specializes in leadership development and change management.
Alongside his friend and colleague, John Batiste, he co-authored the best-selling book, Cows in the Living Room: Developing an Effective Strategic Plan and Sustaining It.
Robert is a 1974 West Point graduate, where he was elected President of his Class, and he also holds three Masters Degrees. During his 33 years of military service, Robert's experience included leading highly-skilled task forces charged with changing battle formations which helped the Army dominate enemy forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. After leaving the military he continued service by being part of the founding team of the Warrior Salute Program for Veterans with PTSD and TBI. To date, over 70% of the Veterans entering the Warrior Salute Program have successfully graduated and are living independently.
As the president of Magnatag Visible Systems, he successfully navigated his company through the recent recession. He later became become Executive Vice President of CDS Monarch, a not-for-profit organization that provides life and job transition skills to people with developmental disabilities.
Robert is an inspiration both on and off the battlefield. He's helping companies develop high performing cultures and superior leadership through his personal experience and trademarked “Big 6” Leadership Principles. He also serves as a faculty member at the Thayer Leader Development Group at West Point, and Washington University in St. Louis Olin Business School. He is also a member of the Rochester Business Alliance and the Rochester Professional Consultants Network.
