Singer, actor and producer Lance Bass grew up in Mississippi and rose to fame as the bass singer for the boy band 'N Sync. The band's success led to a career in film and television for Bass includingthe 2001 film "On the Line."
'N SYNC's first album, No Strings Attached, sold a record-breaking 2.4 million copies its first week, launching 'N Sync as an unrivaled force in pop music. The band released a second album, 2001's Celebrity, before breaking up in 2002. In total, the band would sell over 56 million records worldwide.
Bass formed his first film production company, A Happy Place, which was geared towards family-friendly films. Its first feature film was "On The Line." It then changed its name to Bacon & Eggs and produced its second feature film, "Lovewrecked," in 2005. Bass later formed a separate production company named Lance Bass Productions.
He also tried his hand in front of the camera. In addition to playing the lead in "On The Line" he also appeared in "7th Heaven," "Zoolander" and "Tropic Thunder."
His experience dancing with 'N Sync helped him secure a third place finish on season seven of "Dancing with the Stars" where he was partnered with Lacey Schwimmer.
In July 2006, Bass revealed that he is gay in a cover story for People magazine. He was awarded the Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award in October 2006 and released an autobiography, "Out of Sync," in October 2007, which debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list.
