
Aaron Tveit is a Tony Award-winning American actor and singer known for his work in musical theater, television, and film. Tveit made his Broadway debut in "Hairspray" as Link Larkin, following his performance in the role on the show's first national tour. He went on to originate roles such as Gabe Goodman in "Next to Normal" and Frank Abagnale Jr. in "Catch Me If You Can," the latter in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical, which he developed Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre before its Broadway debut. Tveit has received honors for his stage work, including the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in "Next to Normal" and the Actors' Equity Association Clarence Derwent Award for Most Promising Actor.
Tveit originated the lead role of Christian in the Broadway adaptation of "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," earning the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical and a Grammy Award nomination. The musical received 14 Tony Award nominations and won 10, including Best Musical. Tveit resumed his role as Christian when "Moulin Rouge!" reopened after a pandemic-related hiatus and has performed the role in more than 500 shows.
Tveit has continued to expand his Broadway presence, stepping into the title role of the Broadway revival of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street" for a limited engagement and co-starring in the Broadway revival of "Chess" as Freddie Trumper. On screen, Tveit has portrayed Enjolras in the film adaptation of "Les Misérables" and Danny Zuko in Fox's "Grease: Live." Television audiences know him as Agent Mike Warren on USA Network's Graceland, from CBS's comic thriller "BrainDead," and as Tripp Van Der Bilt on the original "Gossip Girl."
Tveit has starred in the MGM+/Amazon series "Earth Abides" and Apple TV+'s "Schmigadoon!" alongside Cecily Strong, Keegan Michael-Key, Alan Cumming, and Kristin Chenoweth. He is featured on the original Broadway cast recordings of "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," "Catch Me If You Can," and "Next to Normal," as well as his solo album, "The Radio In My Head: Live at 54 Below." Tveit's career encompasses Broadway originations, film performances, and a growing television presence, making him a prominent figure in contemporary musical theater.
