Hosea Rosenberg

Hosea Rosenberg is a chef, restaurateur, and culinary entrepreneur best known as the winner of Bravo's "Top Chef" Season 5. Rosenberg originally set out to become an astronomer and, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado, decided to turn what had been a side job into a dedicated career. He worked at restaurants to help pay for college and quickly identified the work as his life's passion, moving rapidly through the kitchen ranks. Rosenberg worked under established chefs such as Wolfgang Puck, Kevin Taylor, Sean Yontz, and Dave Query, ultimately landing his first chef position at Boulder's Dandelion Restaurant.

Following his time at Dandelion, Rosenberg joined the Big Red F Restaurant Group, working as sous chef at Zolo Southwestern Grill and then as executive chef at Jax Fish House. His competitive drive led him to enter local cooking competitions, including the Flatiron Chef, where he remained undefeated for seven consecutive months before resigning his position as champion to pursue further opportunities. On Bravo's "Top Chef: New York," Rosenberg was declared the winner over runners-up Stefan Richter and Carla Hall. His accolades also include being named Best Chef of the Denver International Wine Festival for three consecutive years and serving as guest chef at the James Beard House.

Rosenberg built a restaurant group focused on sustainability and local sourcing. He founded Blackbelly, which began as a catering business and food truck and evolved into a full-service restaurant, butcher shop, and market known for house-made charcuterie and ethical sourcing. Rosenberg later opened Santo, a restaurant inspired by the flavors of his Taos, New Mexico upbringing. He also opened Blackbelly Market Denver, a smaller outpost emphasizing its daytime deli, market, and in-house meat-curing program. His establishments have been recognized by the Michelin Guide, with Blackbelly receiving a Green Star for sustainable gastronomy and both Blackbelly and Santo earning Michelin recommendations for their quality ingredients, chef-driven menus, and dedication to excellence.

Beyond the kitchen, Rosenberg is active in the culinary and philanthropic communities. He has served as guest chef at the James Beard House, been named Hero of the Year by Conscious Alliance, and recognized as outstanding philanthropist by the Colorado Restaurant Association. The U.S. Small Business Administration has recognized Rosenberg as a leader who inspires entrepreneurs nationwide. After discovering his daughter Sophie suffered from Multicentric Carpotarsal Osteolysis (MCTO) Syndrome, Rosenberg and his family launched Sophie's Neighborhood, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting research for effective treatments. The organization has raised significant funds through community events and silent auctions, engaging local food and business leaders, professional athletes, and celebrity chefs. Rosenberg's career spans culinary innovation, restaurant management, sustainable food practices, and nonprofit leadership.
