Business Improvisation Trainer, Leadership & Team Building Expert
Paul Marks Biography
Paul Marks teaches leaders and teams how to communicate clearly, respond quickly, and stay flexible when situations change unexpectedly.
His highly interactive programs combine applied improvisation with right brain awareness training to strengthen listening, adaptability, creativity, and collaboration inside organizations.
Marks delivers more than 90 to 100 leadership workshops and keynote presentations annually for organizations including Amazon, Visa, Wells Fargo, Duke University, and Ingersoll Rand. To date he has taught more than 68,000 business professionals and 45,000 students.
Participants learn how to notice subtle signals in conversations such as tone, body language, hesitation, and idea rejection so they can respond more thoughtfully during discussions and decisions.
Marks studied improvisation in Chicago with instructors who were finalists for Saturday Night Live. After researching the connection between improvisation and business culture, he began teaching corporations how the mental habits used in improv strengthen leadership and communication.
In 2019, Marks delivered his first TEDx talk on the connection between improvisation and business leadership.
Participants leave with practical exercises they can continue practicing after the session to strengthen communication, collaboration, and quick thinking back in the workplace.

Right Brain Leadership
How Observation and Flexible Thinking Improve Communication and Decision Making
This interactive keynote shows participants what is happening in their brain in real time during conversations and decision making. Through structured improvisation exercises, participants experience how the brain reacts when ideas are accepted, ignored, interrupted, or supported.
As the exercises unfold, participants begin to notice subtle signals such as tone, hesitation, body language, and idea rejection while discussions are happening. These moments reveal how instinctive reactions influence communication and how small behavioral shifts improve collaboration and trust inside teams.
The exercises make the learning visible. Participants see their own reactions in the moment and understand how the brain processes ideas, risk, humor, and uncertainty during conversations.
Key Outcomes
- Improve listening through observation and awareness
- Recognize signals that influence conversations in real time
- Respond constructively when ideas appear or change
- Strengthen collaboration through acceptance of ideas
- Use humor and awareness to build trust within teams
