Dia Simms Biography

Dia Simms is an American business executive, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose career spans a wide range of industries, including the Department of Defense, spirits, fashion, and media. Simms began her professional journey at the Department of Defense before managing a marketing company focused on spirits promotions. She later worked in sales roles within the advertising and pharmaceutical sectors. While at Clear Channel, she managed accounts for Bad Boy Records and Sean John, connections that proved pivotal in her career trajectory.

Simms joined Combs Enterprises as executive assistant to Sean Combs and advanced through the organization, building multiple brands and businesses under the Combs Enterprises umbrella. She served as chief of staff, then as general manager of the Blue Flame Agency, and later as president of Combs Wine & Spirits. In these roles, she oversaw the strategic execution of "CÎROC Ultra Premium Vodka," "DeLeón Tequila," and other spirits innovation projects. Simms played a key role in the acquisition and relaunch of "DeLeón Tequila." She was named president of Combs Enterprises, becoming the first person to hold the title aside from Sean Combs. Among her achievements, Simms led the transformation of "CÎROC Ultra Premium Vodka" into a $2 billion retail value brand, with sales exceeding 16 million cases worldwide.

Simms has worked across sectors including spirits, television, and hip-hop, often as one of the few women in leadership roles within male-dominated industries. She has been recognized by Billboard as one of the most powerful executives in the industry, included in the Ebony Power 100 list, honored at the Matrix Awards from New York Women in Communications, and named to the Ad Age Women to Watch list and Variety Power of Women New York Impact List. Her honors also include the Diageo Global Marketing Brilliance Award and Maverick of the Year.

Following her tenure at Combs Enterprises, Simms served as executive chairwoman of the board at Lobos 1707 Tequila & Mezcal, an independent spirits brand, after leading the company as chief executive officer alongside founder and chief creative officer Diego Osorio, with early backing from LeBron James. Simms co-founded Pronghorn, an initiative focused on driving diversity, equity, and inclusion in the spirits industry. Pronghorn, a Black-women-led business, aims to cultivate the next generation of Black founders and executives in the spirits sector through capital investments and recruitment programs. The initiative has invested in 57 Black-owned spirits brands, with a goal of generating significant economic value and generational wealth in the Black community.
