Paul Dickinson Biography

Paul Dickinson is the co-founder and executive chair of CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project, a leading global climate action organization. Dickinson established CDP with the goal of creating an economic system that operates within sustainable environmental boundaries and addresses climate change. CDP has developed a disclosure system used by more than 20,000 companies, as well as cities, states, and regions, to manage and report their environmental impacts. The organization represents 827 investors with $100 trillion in assets and encourages corporate transparency on climate and environmental issues by instructing corporations to disclose information on greenhouse gas emissions and climate change strategies.

Dickinson has contributed to the carbon management and corporate sustainability sectors by highlighting the role of large companies and investors in climate action and disclosure. CDP's system enables organizations to report emissions and strategies, providing data that informs financial and policy decisions aimed at preventing dangerous climate change. CDP has expanded its disclosure process to include plastics reporting through a framework developed by the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. Dickinson also co-founded Transition Value Partners, a consultancy that provides strategic guidance to businesses transitioning to net zero commitments.

Prior to CDP, Dickinson co-founded Rufus Leonard Corporate Design and EyeNetwork, the largest video conference booking service in Europe, and worked in the fashion, retail, and market research industries. He has served as a member of the Environmental Research Group of the UK Faculty and Institute of Actuaries and authored publications, including the book "Beautiful Corporations," which introduced sustainability product marketing. Dickinson serves on the sustainability advisory boards of enterprise software platforms Workiva and Persefoni.

Dickinson co-hosts the podcast "Outrage + Optimism" with Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac, a show focused on political, business, and societal issues related to the net zero transition. The podcast has achieved over 7 million downloads and is recognized as the official COP30 podcast. Dickinson has been named to the TIME100 Climate list. He also serves as chair of the trustees of the NGO ShareAction and as a trustee of the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, where he established seminars and retreats for the responsible investment community and social businesses.
