Yat Siu Biography

Yat began his technology career in 1990, working for Atari Germany. Three years later, in Boston, he took the position of Director and Head of East Coast Operations for Lexicor, a graphics software company based in Silicon Valley.

In 1996 Yat moved to Hong Kong and established Hong Kong Cybercity, the first free web page and email provider in Asia. Later renamed Freenation, the service grew rapidly and was acquired by a US-based company. In 1997 Yat joined AT&T’s Solutions System Integration practice and left a year later to set up Outblaze, which today provides services to over 75 million users and is one of the largest hosted messaging providers in the world.

Yat holds a music degree from the Musik Konservatorium Wien. He has received the Standard Chartered Platinum Achievers Award, the URENCO Innovation Award, and, for the execution of his vision at Outblaze, an IT Excellence Gold Award, two Linux Business Awards, an Asia Pacific ICT Award (APICTA,) a Golden Penguin Open Source Software Award and a Hong Kong Award for Industries.

Yat was named a Young Global Leader in 2006 by the World Economic Forum. He is a supporter of various NGO and charity organisations such the Asian Youth Orchestra, WITNESS, APCAUCE, the Salvation Army, the SPCA, the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and others.
