Joie Rasberry Biography

Joie Rasberry is an international keynote speaker, speech coach, magazine journalist, author, executive trainer, former public affairs news radio co-host, spoken word artist, poet, entrepreneur, speech and debate instructor, licensed chaplain, and motivator for both marketplace and ministry audiences. Rasberry graduated from Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and attended Southwestern Christian College and Texas Southern University, earning degrees in biblical studies, speech communication, and broadcast journalism. Under the mentorship of Dr. Thomas F. Freeman, head coach of the Texas Southern University Debate Team, Rasberry competed internationally and achieved first-place wins in speech and debate, which led to an invitation to speak at the White House.

Rasberry made history at Texas Southern University as the first non-traditional student to win the title of Miss Texas Southern University. Her speaking engagements have taken her to cities including Paris, Rome, Prague, Johannesburg, London, Madrid, Munich, Tanzania, Costa Rica, Iceland, Namibia, New Zealand, Greece, and Switzerland. Each year, Rasberry addresses more than 100,000 people in organizations across the United States and internationally, drawing on more than four decades of experience on the lecture circuit.

As a speech coach, Rasberry works with celebrities, entertainers, professional athletes, and ministry leaders. She founded Joie Rasberry Enterprises in Houston, initially teaching theater, journalism, and speech and debate, and later expanded her services to professional clients seeking to improve public speaking and communication skills. Rasberry facilitates programs on public speaking, presentation skills, overcoming speaking anxiety, leadership presence, voice and diction, accent reduction, persuasion, video performance, interview preparation, and communication skills for individuals, small businesses, and corporations.

Rasberry has written, co-authored, and compiled three books: "From Jensen Drive to Pennsylvania Avenue," "More Than Half a Century," and "Boss Babes Who Pray – Exposing the Lies of the Enemy." She has served as editor-in-chief for DMARS Business Journal and senior editor for Contemporary Christian Woman Magazine, and has contributed to outlets including Huffington Post and African-American News and Issues. Rasberry has received a Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for Women in Christian Leadership and the Speaker of the Year Award from PWE TV Network.

Rasberry openly shares her experiences overcoming personal and family challenges, including loss, domestic violence, addiction, and mental health issues. She established Rasberry's House of Hope, a therapeutic residential group home for adolescent girls affected by abuse, abandonment, and neglect, with a mission to guide them toward positive choices and healthy self-image. Through her work as a speaker, coach, and advocate, Rasberry demonstrates the impact of effective communication and public speaking in personal and professional development.
