Scott Patterson

Scott Patterson is an American actor known for his transition from professional baseball pitcher to television and film performer. Before entering the entertainment industry, Patterson spent seven years as a professional pitcher in minor league baseball, reaching the Triple-A level and playing in two major league farm systems for seven minor league teams. He earned selection to four All-Star Teams and set a Braves record for most consecutive wins to start a season as a starting pitcher between Class A Durham and Class AA Savannah.

After his baseball career, Patterson studied acting in New York with coaches Robert Lewis and Sondra Lee and observed Paul Newman, Arthur Penn, and Frank Corsaro at The Actors Studio, where he appeared in multiple productions. He founded the Arc Light theater company in New York City, producing works by John Bishop, Sam Shepherd, Harold Pinter, and Shakespeare. Patterson's early television work included guest appearances on shows such as "Seinfeld," "Will & Grace," "It's Like, You Know," and "Fired Up."

Patterson is best known for his role as Luke Danes on "Gilmore Girls," a character he portrayed for seven seasons. He reprised this role in the miniseries "Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life" on Netflix. Patterson has also appeared as Peter Strahm in the "Saw" film series and starred as Michael Buchanan in the NBC drama series "The Event." He has played the recurring role of Harry Sully Sullivan on the Canadian television series "Sullivan's Crossing." Patterson launched the "Gilmore Girls" podcast "I Am All In" on iHeartRadio, engaging with fans and exploring the show's legacy.

Outside of acting, Patterson is president and CEO of Scotty P's Big Mug Coffee, a company focused on sourcing and developing specialty coffees, including a line inspired by "Gilmore Girls." He is also a self-taught guitarist and songwriter, with a catalog of more than 900 songs. Patterson's career spans television, film, podcasting, and entrepreneurship, reflecting his experience across the entertainment and coffee industries.
