Peter Northouse Biography
Peter G. Northouse, PhD, is professor emeritus of communication in the School of Communication at Western Michigan University. Northouse is the author of "Leadership: Theory and Practice," a widely used leadership textbook. His other works include "Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice," "Leadership Case Studies in Education," and "Health Communication: Strategies for Health Professionals." Northouse's research and teaching focus on leadership models, leadership assessment, ethical leadership, and group dynamics in leadership. He has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in leadership, interpersonal communication, and organizational communication for more than 30 years.
Northouse serves as a consultant and lecturer on leadership research, leadership development, and leadership education. He holds a doctorate in speech communication from the University of Denver, as well as master's and bachelor's degrees in communication education from Michigan State University. Northouse's publications are frequently cited in academic and professional settings, and his textbooks are used in leadership education programs worldwide. He is an active speaker at leadership conferences and professional development events.
