Ian Somerhalder Biography
Ian Somerhalder is an actor, producer, and entrepreneur best known for his roles as Boone Carlyle on "Lost" and Damon Salvatore on The CW’s hit supernatural drama "The Vampire Diaries." He later executive produced and starred in "V-Wars," and produced the Netflix environmental documentary "Kiss the Ground."
Born and raised in Covington, Louisiana, Somerhalder began modeling at age 10 before turning to acting in his late teens. His early film work includes "The Rules of Attraction," but his breakout came with "Lost" in 2004, followed by the global success of "The Vampire Diaries."
Beyond entertainment, Somerhalder is a co-founder of Brother's Bond Bourbon, launched with former co-star Paul Wesley; the brand quickly became one of 2021’s fastest-selling premium bourbons.
A longtime environmental advocate, he founded the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and has supported initiatives including the United Nations Environment Programme and the Jane Goodall Institute. Through his work in sustainability, regenerative agriculture, and animal welfare, Somerhalder continues to use his platform to drive environmental and social impact.
