
Elizabeth Cook is an American country music singer known for her extensive contributions to the country and Americana music genres. Cook made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry and has released five albums, including "Balls," produced by Rodney Crowell, with nine of the album's 11 tracks written or co-written by Cook. The single "Sometimes It Takes Balls to Be a Woman" received significant attention. Her album "Welder," produced by Don Was, features guest appearances by Dwight Yoakam, Crowell and Buddy Miller, and was recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the 30 Best Albums of the year.
Cook graduated from Georgia Southern University with degrees in accounting and computer information systems. She independently released The Blue Album before making her major label debut with Hey Y'All. Following a period of corporate restructuring, Cook released "This Side of the Moon" independently, earning positive reviews from The New York Times and No Depression. "Balls" marked a high point in her career, with strong press coverage and video play for its lead single. "Welder" includes tracks such as "El Camino" and "Heroin Addict Sister," both featured in an NPR report.
Cook has maintained an active touring schedule, performing across the United States and internationally in countries including South Korea, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Poland, France and the United Kingdom. Her appearances include the Cambridge Folk Festival, the Maverick Festival and the Borderline in London. Cook has performed on the Grand Ole Opry stage over 300 times.
She toured the United Kingdom in support of "Welder," performing 18 dates with upright bass player Bones Hillman, formerly of Midnight Oil. Cook was invited by the Atlanta Braves to sing the national anthem before a home opener and has appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman, performing with Jason Isbell and later in a solo interview and performance.
Cook hosts the morning radio show "Elizabeth Cook's Apron Strings" on Sirius XM Outlaw Country Channel 60. The show features a mix of Americana, outlaw country and alt-country music, reflecting Cook's deep roots in the country music industry.
