Brittany Kaiser

Brittany Kaiser is an entrepreneur, activist, and expert in data protection, technology ethics, and legislative reform. A former member of President Barack Obama's media team and Amnesty International lobbyist, Kaiser built an early career in progressive politics and human rights advocacy. Upon joining Cambridge Analytica, the UK-based political consulting firm, she was pursuing her fourth degree in human rights law and international relations. Kaiser, a veteran of Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, aimed to utilize data for humanitarian purposes, including efforts to prevent genocide and human rights abuses. She holds an undergraduate degree and MA with honors in international relations from the University of Edinburgh, an LLM in international human rights law from the University of London Birkbeck College of Law, and an MPhil in international law from Middlesex University.

Kaiser served as business development director at Cambridge Analytica, which used personal data harvested from Facebook to influence political campaigns. The company leveraged this data to shape discourse around divisive political issues, supporting campaigns such as the Donald Trump presidential election and Britain's Leave.EU campaign. Kaiser provided evidence to the British government's Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee investigating Cambridge Analytica and Facebook, revealing the company's use of Facebook data and the broader scope of data misuse. She also testified before the UK Parliament and in private before the Mueller Investigation regarding her involvement with Cambridge Analytica.

Kaiser is the author of the best-selling book "Targeted," published by HarperCollins, and is the main subject of the Netflix documentary "The Great Hack," which received nominations for an Emmy and BAFTA and was shortlisted for an Oscar. "Targeted" chronicles the rise and fall of Cambridge Analytica and examines how Facebook's policies and insufficient national laws enabled voter manipulation in Britain and the United States. Kaiser advocates for regulation and legal oversight of the data industry to protect democracy.

In addition to her advocacy, Kaiser has served as an expert witness and provided testimony on the data industry, big tech, and elections, contributing to policy changes and landmark decisions against data misuse. She is the founder of the #OwnYourData campaign and co-founder of the Digital Asset Trade Association, a nonprofit advancing legislative reform to protect digital asset rights. Kaiser has participated in U.S. Congressional subcommittees on blockchain, fintech, and digital innovation for the State of Wyoming, and has co-authored state and federal bills on data ownership, digital assets, and AI ethics that form part of the legal framework for the digital economy. She has been recognized on Crypto.com and Cointelegraph's Top 100 Most Influential People in Crypto and Blockchain list for her advocacy.

Kaiser has spoken at events at the United Nations, the European and British Parliaments, the G20, and WebSummit, and is a keynote speaker for Fortune 1000 boards and government events. She is also a guest lecturer at universities including Harvard, Oxford, and Columbia. Kaiser serves as CEO of Chateaushi, a Swiss Web3.0 marketplace for historic real estate preservation, and is co-founder and board director of Gryphon Digital Mining, a Nasdaq-listed bitcoin miner. Through her work at the intersection of technology, ethics, and policy, Kaiser has leveraged her experience with data scandals to advocate for systemic change in data privacy and digital asset regulation.
