Bob Chapek

Bob Chapek is a business executive recognized for serving as the seventh chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company. After graduating from Indiana University, Chapek earned an MBA from Michigan State and began his career at J. Walter Thompson and the H.J. Heinz Company, where he developed expertise in data-driven marketing and consumer behavior. Chapek joined Disney as marketing director for Buena Vista Home Entertainment, where he played a key role in advancing the company's home entertainment division by focusing on DVD and Blu-ray releases.

Chapek later led Disney Consumer Products, overseeing transformation in product development and brand strategy, and served as president of distribution for The Walt Disney Studios, managing film content distribution across multiple platforms. As chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Chapek directed significant investment and expansion, including the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort, the expansion of the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and the introduction of technologically advanced lands such as "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

Chapek was named CEO of The Walt Disney Company during a period marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted theme parks, theaters, and cruise ships. As CEO, he focused on the launch and growth of the Disney+ streaming service and led a reorganization to prioritize direct-to-consumer streaming content creation and distribution. His tenure included a unique leadership arrangement with Bob Iger remaining as executive chairman, overseeing creative operations.

Following his departure from Disney, Chapek has participated in board work outside the entertainment industry. He is the author of the memoir "Behind the Castle Walls: My 30 Years at the Happiest Place on Earth," which details his experiences at Disney, including his appointment as CEO and subsequent dismissal. The book explores the complexities of corporate leadership and succession within the entertainment and media industry.
