Chairman of the elder President Bush’s Council of Economic Advisors between 1989 and 1993. Rated one of five most respected federal agencies (out of 100) by the independent Council for Excellence in Government.

Chairman, Commission on the Consumer Price Index, whose report transformed the way governments around the world measure inflation, GDP and productivity.

Topic areas. Professor Boskin projects how technology, globalization, demography and geopolitics will affect capital, labor and product markets and what that means for financial markets, individual industries, and national economies. In his research, he specializes in world economic growth, tax and budget theory and policy, Social Security and U.S. saving patterns, and consumption patterns.

Frequently sought as a public speaker on the economic outlook and evolving trends significant to business, Professor Boskin accepts speaking engagements that offer the opportunity to contribute significantly to a business’s understanding of the economy and their strategic thinking.

He is currently preparing books on consumption behavior, economic growth in the G-7 countries, and the federal budget.

Positions. Michael Boskin is Tully M. Friedman Professor of Economics at Stanford University and a Senior Fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution. He also is an Adjunct Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
