Brye Sargent Biography

Brye Sargent, CSP, is a workplace safety coach, trainer, and founder of The Safety Geek, a platform focused on supporting safety managers in developing leadership skills within their organizations. With more than 25 years of experience in safety management across over 15 industries, Sargent is recognized for practical approaches and thought leadership in the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) sector. Sargent holds credentials as a Certified Safety Professional and Certified Life Coach, providing expertise in both technical and human aspects of workplace safety.

Prior to establishing The Safety Geek, Sargent held senior safety roles in high-hazard industries, including serving as senior manager of field safety, programs and regulations at Sysco, where she managed safety protocols and regulatory compliance. Sargent’s earlier roles included risk management at Buckhead Beef Florida and directing safety initiatives at Southeast Milk, gaining hands-on experience in hazard prevention and compliance across diverse operational settings. These roles shaped her philosophy that effective safety management requires addressing both regulatory standards and the psychology behind worker behavior, integrating safety into all organizational levels.

Through The Safety Geek, Sargent has trained more than 500 safety managers nationwide, guiding them to move beyond compliance and adopt strategies that foster positive workplace safety culture. Her program, "Safety Management Academy," provides aspiring safety leaders with systems, processes, and leadership development to progress within the EHS field. Sargent also serves as a special government employee with OSHA, supporting certifications and evaluations for Voluntary Protection Program applications, demonstrating her regulatory expertise.

Sargent is active as a content creator and public speaker in the EHS community. She hosts "The Safety Geek Podcast" and manages a YouTube channel, offering guidance on employee engagement, behavior-based safety, management support, and safety culture.
