• Just Joking: Workplace Sexual Harassment Bystander Intervention

  TRAINING SYNOPSIS: As a workplace harassment bystander intervention training expert, I am deeply committed to fostering safe, respectful and inclusive environments within organizations. With extensive experience and a passion for empowering individuals, I specialize in providing comprehensive training that addresses workplace harassment while equipping employees at all levels with the skills and knowledge to intervene effectively.

  Enjoy an example of the ultimate team building workshop led by Kelly Pfleider titled 'Just Joking'. SYNOPSIS -We observe the daily routine of a workspace both in professional and social settings. Among them is BLAKE, someone who promotes humor but frequently crosses boundaries into inappropriate behavior. Despite this, BLAKE's actions are tolerated by their colleague, CARSON. However, when MORGAN, a new team member, joins the unit, BLAKE's behavior escalates to levels of harassment and hazing. As BLAKE's aggressive behavior towards MORGAN continues, the unit's morale and efficiency suffer, resulting in a toxic and unprofessional work environment.

  In this unique storytelling experience, audience members are invited to actively participate in rewriting the story using their ideas, improvisational skills and humor. Through collaborative and interactive engagement, the audience becomes co-creators of a dynamic and ever-evolving narrative. Using actors to help tell someone's story can be a powerful way to enhance empathy and understanding. By leveraging the skills of actors, the story can be effectively conveyed, encouraging empathy and promoting dialogue about important issues.

• No Offense: Micro-aggressions and Implicit Bias Bystander Intervention

  TRAINING SYNOPSIS: The No Offense workshop aims to address the destructive and pervasive issue of microaggressions that permeate every level of society. Customizing each workshop to a different professional setting is an excellent approach to ensure relevance and effectiveness. By tailoring the content and examples to specific industries or professions, participants can better relate to the material and understand how to apply it in their own work environments. While the workshops may differ in terms of specific scenarios or case studies, they all share a common underlying message: the importance of doing better and being better. This core message emphasizes the need for continuous growth, self-reflection, and actively working towards creating inclusive and bias-free workplaces.

• That Night: Sexual Assault Bystander Intervention

  TRAINING SYNOPSIS: College campuses can be environments where sexual violence and harassment occur. Thus, in response, federal and state law now require that colleges and universities must provide their students with training on sexual violence prevention in their campus communities. Cue up, Pure Praxis. Pure Praxis, led by Kelly Pfleider, can provide students with the tools and understanding needed to create a safer and more inclusive campus culture.

  By conducting this interactive workshop, we will empower students to take an active role in preventing sexual violence in their lives, while also creating an open and supportive environment for survivors. In this workshop, we follow one story plot; see item #5. After participants have a reference for the information Pure Praxis will then engage in an interactive discussion to address the following key points:

  1. Raising Awareness: Discuss the prevalence and impact of sexual violence, emphasizing the importance of understanding consent, boundaries, and respectful relationships

  2. Building Bystander Intervention Skills: Students will learn how to recognize potential instances of sexual violence and develop strategies to intervene safely and effectively. Empowering students to be active bystanders can make a significant difference in preventing harm.

  3. Promoting Healthy Communication: We will explore effective communication techniques, active listening, and the importance of consent in intimate interactions.

  4. Providing Resources and Support: Students will be introduced to available campus and community resources, ensuring they know where to seek help and support if they or someone they know experiences sexual violence.

  5. SYNOPSIS: When Frankie reports an assault after a graduation party, her social group turns their backs on her for "snitching" on their accused friend. In this training, focused on the Continuum of Harm, Consent, and Re-victimization, Pure Praxis uses the power of theater to create an experience that is unique, engaging and personal. Pure Praxis' goal is to give everyday people the confidence to step up and mitigate abusive or harmful acts.

• But She's my Girlfriend "Peer-Pressure and Intimate Partner Violence"

  TRAINING SYNOPSIS: Educating teenagers about intimate partner violence (IPV) and helping them recognize its signs and patterns is crucial for promoting healthy and safe relationships. A Pure Praxis workshop, (led by Kelly Pfleider) utilizes trained actors to portray realistic dating scenarios, provide a safe environment for students to learn and develop essential skills to prevent such incidents. In this workshop, we follow one story plot; see item #4. After participants have a reference for the information Pure Praxis will then engage in an interactive discussion to address the following key points:

  1. By experiencing these scenarios through role-playing, students can gain firsthand insights into the dynamics of unhealthy relationships and recognize potential red flags. This experiential learning approach allows them to understand the impact of different behaviors and responses, fostering empathy and critical thinking.

  2. Focus on communication skills, setting boundaries, promoting consent, and strategies for seeking help or intervening when witnessing concerning behavior.

  3. It's important to create a supportive and inclusive environment throughout these workshops, ensuring that students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, asking questions, and accessing resources for support if needed.

  4. SYNOPSIS: After being pressured to have sex by her girlfriend Michelle, sophomore student Ava is sexually assaulted. She is confused because she didn't know that that could happen if you were in a relationship. Ava tells her parents, and they decide to press charges. A few weeks later, Ava begins to notice that her friends are treating her differently. They make rude comments and ignore her. It becomes obvious that they blame her for what has happened to Michelle. The harassment and abuse begin to escalate but other students ignore it; and essentially, they ignore Ava. Who will stand up for her when she needs it the most? Will it be you?
