You'll learn who hoards and why this dilemma is not going away. He'll cover why a hoarder behaves a certain way and why they can't just throw it all out. You'll begin to understand the emotional ties to specific items and how the hoarder places the item can help you understand their grief. Focusing on demographics and personal experience, we’ll learn why hoarding in affordable housing is increasing.

As hoarding increases in affordable house, understanding and communicating with the tenants becomes more important. Extending from the keynote session, Matt Paxton from TV’s HOARDERS will highlight specific communication techniques to create a positive and compassionate interaction with the hoarding population. Matt will simulate entering a hoarder's home to reinforce hoarding knowledge and communication techniques learned in the class.
