Julia Bacha Biography
Julia Bacha is a Peabody and Guggenheim award-winning filmmaker, media strategist, and the Creative Director at Just Vision, a nonprofit that highlights the power and reach of Palestinians and Israelis working to end the occupation and build a future of freedom, dignity and equality. She has strategically used documentary film and multi-media to foster constructive conversations on some of the most divisive issues of our times.
Julia wrote and edited Control Room, for which she was nominated for the Writer’s Guild of America Award. She co-directed, wrote and edited Encounter Point which won best documentary prize at the San Francisco Film Festival. She then directed and produced the critically-acclaimed Budrus. Subsequently, Julia directed and produced My Neighbourhood, which won the coveted Peabody Award. She also directed Naila and the Uprising.
She is a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations, an Advisory Board Member to the Tribeca Film Institute, and a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum. Her TED talk, “Pay Attention to Nonviolence,” was selected as one of the best talks of 2011 by the TED curators.
