Lisa Garza

Lisa Garza is a Dallas-based chef, restaurateur, and culinary entrepreneur recognized for her contributions to the American dining scene. Garza began her career in the restaurant industry at age 16 and played a key role in opening SUZE, a restaurant in Northwest Dallas known for its blend of new American, Mediterranean, and Asian fusion cuisine. SUZE has received recognition from Dallas Morning News and D Magazine as one of the top restaurants in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and was featured on the cover of Bon Appétit in the Best Neighborhood Restaurant issue. The restaurant has also been listed among America's Top Restaurants by Zagat's Guide.

Garza gained national attention as a contestant on the Food Network show "The Next Food Network Star" Season Four, where her culinary expertise and on-screen presence led to increased visibility. She later appeared on "Chopped All-Stars," further establishing her reputation in the culinary industry. Garza has worked as a luxury event coordinator, providing services for clients including Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, Vogue, and Valentino.

Expanding her culinary ventures, Garza founded Lisa Garza Taste Studio, offering event planning and off-site catering services. In collaboration with Lauren Smith, she launched Lisa Garza Taste Studio and Events, a business that integrates fine dining with custom-designed uniforms and linens for events. Garza also opened Sissy's Southern Kitchen and Bar on Henderson Avenue in Dallas, a restaurant noted for its focus on Southern cuisine and praised by outlets such as Harper's Bazaar. Sissy's Southern Kitchen and Bar has been credited with influencing the Southern cuisine movement in Dallas.

Throughout her career, Garza has advocated for women's rights and addressed issues within the restaurant industry. Her platform includes wellness cooking, mental health advocacy, and the study of nutritional psychiatry and developmental trauma, reflecting her commitment to the intersection of food, culture, and well-being.
