Jim Farley

Jim Farley has been serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Company since October 1, 2020, President of Ford Model e, and is a member of Ford’s board of directors. He was previously Ford’s chief operating officer, responsible for strengthening the company’s global automotive operations. He also served as the CEO and chairman of Ford Europe from 2015 to 2017, after which he held the position of executive vice president and president of global markets at Ford from June 2017 to May 2019. From May 2019 to February 2020, Farley was president of New Business, Technology, and Strategy at Ford.

Under Farley's leadership, the focus has been on transforming Ford to lead the digital and electric revolution in the automotive industry through the deployment of the ambitious, customer-focused Ford+ plan. This plan includes an emphasis on innovation and delivery of breakthrough electric vehicles at scale, along with the development of software and connected vehicle technologies and services across all Ford and Lincoln vehicles. Farley's role has been pivotal in Ford's push towards electric vehicles, including the launch of the "Ford Mustang Mach-E," an all-electic SUV. The company has boosted investment in electric vehicles to more than $50 billion under his guidance.

Prior to joining Ford in 2007, Farley was group vice president and general manager of Lexus, where he was responsible for all the brand's market planning, advertising, merchandising, sales promotion, incentives, and internet activities. Farley also previously worked in Toyota’s strategic planning, product, and marketing in the United States and Europe, and led the successful launch of Toyota’s new Scion brand.

Besides his various roles at Ford, Farley is a board member of Harley-Davidson and the U.S. China Business Council, and co-chair of the Future of Mobility Commission. In July 2021, he was nominated to join the board of directors for Harley-Davidson to help prepare the company for an electric future. Farley’s passion for automobiles extends outside of the workplace. He is a collector and racer of vintage vehicles, and he hosts the podcast "Drive," which rekindles America’s love affair with cars – the influence they have in our life and how those experiences drive us to succeed personally and professionally.

Farley is also dedicated to giving back to his community. He is a frequent volunteer for the Pope Francis Center in Detroit and served as the Chairman of the capital campaign for the Center’s new Bridge Housing Campus. Farley is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles. He and his wife, Lia, have three children.
