Tom is the winningest left-handed pitcher in baseball over the last ten years.
Two-time Cy Young Award winner; 1991 & 1998.Six-time All-Star; 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997 & 1998. Member of the World Champion Atlanta Braves and was named World Series MVP; 1995. Has helped lead the Braves to five National League Championships; 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996 & 1999. Four-time Silver Slugger Award winner; 1991, 1995, 1996 & 1998.
Named The Sporting News Pitcher of the Year; 1991.
He is heavily involved in charity work as a member of the National Sports Committee of the Leukemia Society of America and has helped raise money as an honorary chairman of the Georgia Council on Child Abuse.
Tom is the author of two books, “None But The Braves” and “Baseball For Everybody”.
In high school, he earned Boston Globe’s All-Scholastic and Player of the Year honors in both baseball and hockey.
Tom was drafted by two professional sports teams -a 2nd round selection of the Braves and a 4th round pick of the NHL Los Angeles Kings.
Away from baseball, Tom enjoys the game of golf. In fact, he is a scratch golfer.
