Butch Davis Biography
Butch Davis is an American football coach and former football defensive end player. Davis was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and he began his career playing high school football where he was an all-state fullback and defensive end. He went on to play college football at the University of Arkansas for a year before a knee injury caused him to end his college football career. Upon graduating, Davis went on to begin his coaching career and worked as a coach for high schools which include Fayetteville, Pawhuska, Charles Page and Will Rogers before moving on be a defensive line coach for the University of Miami. After a few years there, Davis began worked as a defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL. Davis coached with the Cowboys for several years and helped them to win two Super Bowl championships. Davis then went on to be head coach for the University of Miami where he helped them be a three-time Big East champions. Since then, Davis has also been a head coach for the Cleveland Browns, North Carolina, and is currently the head coach for Florida International University. Apart from his career as a coach, Davis has also been a general manager for the Cleveland Browns and an advisor for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
