• Violence as a Language: Understanding the Process of Learning Harm

  Violence, much like any language, is learned over time through immersion, repetition, and influence. In this session, we explore how violence functions as a language—a system of behaviors and emotional responses that are taught, reinforced, and ultimately ingrained in individuals. Much like a person can’t “just speak German” without years of practice and exposure, a victim of violence can’t simply “leave” without having experienced full immersion in a nonviolent language.

This process, like learning a language, doesn’t happen overnight.
