Rodger Baker Biography

Rodger Baker is the Managing Director for Geopolitics at Periplous, Executive Advisor of the Stratfor Center for Applied Geopolitics at RANE, and Chair of the Advisory Board of the Society for Geopolitics (S4GEO).

Baker explains how geopolitical competition, technological change, and shifting alliances are reshaping the global environment. With nearly 30 years of experience producing mid- and long-term geopolitical forecasts, he analyzes global geopolitical patterns and their implications for international security, economics, and corporate decision-making and advises companies, governments, and globally engaged organizations on strategic decision-making.

He is a leading expert on Arctic strategy and security, as well as the Indo-Pacific and its relationship with the United States, examining the dynamics of great-power competition, the growing role of middle powers, and how technological, environmental, and demographic shifts are influencing global relationships.

A clear and engaging communicator, he translates complex geopolitical dynamics into insights relevant for business leaders and policymakers. His analysis is particularly valued by internationally active businesses seeking to understand how geopolitical change affects markets, supply chains, and long-term strategy.

Baker is a Senior Fellow at the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S. China Relations, a Steering Fellow for the Mackinder Forum, and teaches a certificate program in Geopolitical Analysis at Florida Atlantic University. He holds a master's degree in military history from Norwich University, the oldest private military university in the United States.
