Lee Jung-jae Biography
Lee Jung-jae is a renowned South Korean actor and former fashion model.
One year after his debut on television in 1993, Lee was cast in his first film. His breakthrough came in late 1998 in the award-winning film An Affair by E-J Yong. This was followed up by another success, City of the Rising Sun, for which he received a Best Actor award at the domestic Chungryong Awards. Lee is also known for Il Mare (2000), Last Present (2001), Oh! Brothers (2003), The Last Witness (2001), The Thieves (2012), New World (2013), and The Face Reader (2013). In 2015, he reunited with The Thieves director Choi Dong-hoon and actress Jun Ji-hyun in Assassination, set in 1930s Korea and Shanghai during the Japanese occupation. Lee won a Best Actor award at the 24th Buil Film Awards and was named Actor of the Year at the 3rd Marie Claire Asia Star Awards.
In 2021, Lee gained widespread international stardom and fame for his portrayal of Seong Gi-hun in Netflix's survival drama "Squid Game." The series received nominations in the Gotham Independent Film Awards 2021, and Lee is nominated for the Outstanding Performance in a New Series category. As of November 2021, it was announced that Lee was selected as a global ambassador for luxury brand Gucci.
