Tina L. Vick, aunt of NFL Superstar Michael Vick, was born and raised in Newport News, Virginia in the city’s toughest community. She was educated in the public school system and graduated from Homer L. Ferguson High School in 1980. She was the recipient of the very first public housing scholarship. Because of it, she was able to obtain a college education where she developed a hard work ethic. Vick worked while going to school because she knew she didn't want to stay poor. In 1984 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

For over 30 years, Vick has helped change the mindset of those around her. Tina and the Vick family are living proof that poverty is not permanent. She has dedicated a large majority of her life to inspiring others and helping them to believe in their dreams. In 2013, she started a Girl’s Camp to help end teen pregnancy and help young people in her community have hope and a better future.

Under Vick’s leadership, there are millions of dollars in infrastructure improvements, increased code enforcement, a new Walmart and the latest is the new grocery store, Jim’s Local Market, developed in what was known as a food dessert. She is currently serving as the Vice-Mayor.
