Yung Joc Biography

Yung Joc, born Jasiel Robinson, is a Grammy Award-nominated rapper, television personality, and radio host known for his contributions to Southern hip-hop and the Atlanta music scene. Robinson gained early business experience from his father, who owned a hair-care products company, and wrote a jingle for Revlon as a teenager. This entrepreneurial background influenced Robinson's decision to found his own label, Mastermind, before achieving national recognition.

Robinson collaborated with Atlanta producer Nitti Beatz to record the hit "It's Goin Down." After partnering with Russell Block Spencer of Block Enterprises, Robinson signed with Sean Combs's Bad Boy South, which released his debut album, "New Joc City." The single "It's Goin' Down" reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. The follow-up single, "I Know U See It," peaked at No. 17 on the Hot 100 and No. 2 on the Hot Rap Tracks. The commercial success of his debut established Robinson as a prominent figure in Southern hip-hop.

Robinson appeared on Forbes' "Richest Rappers List," ranking at No. 20 with gross earnings of approximately $10 million. His next album, "Hustlenomics," featured singles such as "Coffee Shop" with The-Dream and Gorilla Zoe, and "Bottle Poppin'" with Gorilla Zoe. Robinson is also recognized for his guest appearance on T-Pain's single "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His Grammy and BET Award nominations for "It's Goin' Down" highlight his influence in the hip-hop industry.

Robinson expanded his career into television as a main cast member on VH1's "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta." He has also established himself as a comedian and radio personality. "Yung Joc & The Streetz Morning Takeover" features music, celebrity interviews, and trending topics with co-hosts Mz. Shyneka and Shawty Shawty. The Atlanta-based program has developed a national following across major hip-hop and R&B markets. The show has expanded to new markets, including Audacy Hip Hop Hot 98.7 in St. Louis. Robinson's career reflects his versatility and continued presence in the entertainment industry.
