Orville Peck Biography

Orville Peck is a South African country musician based in the United States and Canada, recognized for his distinctive deep voice and signature fringed mask. Peck blends outlaw country, rockabilly, and alternative rock, drawing comparisons to Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Patsy Cline. Before establishing himself in country music, Peck worked as a drummer in punk bands, a ballet dancer, and a classical actor.

Peck's masked persona became central to his identity with the release of his debut album, "Pony," under Sub Pop Records. The album was nominated for Alternative Album of the Year at the Juno Awards in Canada and was long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize. Peck has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and performed at major music festivals, including Coachella and Stagecoach. His follow-up EP, "Show Pony," features a duet with Shania Twain and further demonstrates his songwriting and production skills.

Peck's second studio album, "Bronco," was nominated for Country Album of the Year at the Juno Awards and long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize. The album received coverage from Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and NPR. Peck's third studio album, "Stampede," is a collaborative project featuring artists such as Willie Nelson, Noah Cyrus, Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Diplo, and Beck. Tracks like "Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond of Each Other," "How Far Will We Take It," and "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)" highlight his collaborative approach and genre-blending style.

Peck is one of the few openly gay artists in country music, and his presence challenges traditional norms within the genre. He has toured extensively across the United States, Europe, Australia, and Canada, performing at venues such as Madison Square Garden, The Hollywood Bowl, and The Ryman Auditorium, as well as festivals like Lollapalooza, Stagecoach, and Coachella.

In addition to his music career, Peck has worked in fashion as a model and creative collaborator with brands including Dior, Michael Kors, Adidas, Ivy Park, Levi's, and Pamela Love. Through his music and public persona, Peck continues to influence the country music industry and expand its boundaries.
