Alberto Perlman is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Zumba Fitness, LLC, the largest branded dance-fitness company in the world. The global lifestyle brand fuses fitness, entertainment and culture into a dance-party experience and has more than 14 million weekly participants in 140,000 locations across 185+ countries. Perlman oversees day-to-day operations, manages brand and product development, and negotiates strategic partnerships with fitness clubs and organizations around the world.

Having celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2011, the Zumba® program has grown from a single class taught in a Miami gym into a global movement. Under Perlman's leadership, the company experienced growth of nearly 800 percent from 2009-2012, developing into a multi-faceted brand that offers a unique and popular fitness program, as well as a continuing-education program that enables instructors to deliver Zumba Fitness to an international audience.

Perlman has forged partnerships between Zumba Fitness and brands that include Kellogg's, The American Heart Association®, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, the NBA, Club Med and fitness chains around the world, including 24 Hour Fitness, Curves, Fitness First and Virgin Active. He also facilitated collaboration with Majesco Entertainment to create Zumba Fitness video games that top charts around the globe.

Prior to founding Zumba Fitness, Perlman was founder and CEO of internet-incubator Spydre Labs and also worked as a consultant for the Mitchell Madison Group. Just as Zumba Fitness operates on a global scale, Perlman's commitment to community service spans the world: He created the Zumbathon charity platform, which is Zumba Fitness' answer to the walkathon; and "Zumba Love" campaigns have raised more than $5 million globally for causes that include Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, American Heart Association® and Augie's Quest. Perlman serves on the board of the Soccer for Peace Foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds to keep kids off the street in Latin American countries by building soccer fields for after-school programs.

Perlman earned his bachelor's degree in business from Babson College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Originally from Bogota, Colombia, Perlman now resides with his family in Miami, Fla.
