Kara Swisher Biography
Kara Swisher is an award-winning technology business journalist. She is the host of "Sway," the twice-weekly interview podcast about power from The New York Times. Swisher has been a contributing opinion writer for the Times since 2018. She is the co-founder and editor-at-large of Recode. She is also the producer and host of the "Recode Decode" and "Pivot" podcasts. She is the executive producer of the Code Conference.
Swisher has previously written for The Wall Street Journal, writing the column "BoomTown" for many years, which appeared on the front page of the marketplace section. Swisher has also worked at the Washington Post as a reporter.
Swisher is an author, with books including 1998's "aol.com: How Steve Case Beat Bill Gates, Nailed the Netheads and Made Millions in the War for the Web" and its sequel, 2003's "There Must Be a Pony in Here Somewhere: The AOL Time Warner Debacle and the Quest for a Digital Future."
She holds a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and a graduate degree from Columbia University's School of Journalism.
