In 1987, Neuheisel played QB, suiting up for 3 games for the San Diego Chargers (starting 2). Rick held a team record for completion percentage in a game (81.8, going 18-of-22 for 217 yards and a TD at Tampa Bay). He completed 40-of-59 passes in those 3 games for 367 yards and 1 TD and added another TD rushing. Overview: Neuheisel has 8 years of head coaching experience at the collegiate Division I-A level, posting a 66-30 record, including a Rose Bowl victory in 2000 at Washington...Neuheisel went 33-16 at Washington and 33-14 at Colorado...In his 4 years at Washington, Neuheisel led the Huskies to 4 Bowl appearances...Neuheisel posted a 33-14 (.702) record and was 3-0 in postseason bowl games all against Pac-10 Conference opponents...His Colorado team had 20 wins in his 1st 2 seasons as a college coach, which tied for the 4th-most by a 1st-time college coach in the Division I-A modern era...Both of those Buffalo teams finished in the top-10 of the national polls.

1999-2002: (with University of Washington) In his 4 years at Washington, Neuheisel led the Huskies to 4 Bowl appearances, 1 Rose Bowl, 2 Holiday Bowls and 1 Sun Bowl. 2002: Finished 7-6 and tied for 4th in the Pac-10 (4-4)...Ranked 4th in passing offense (346.2 yards per game) in NCAA Top 10...Earned a spot in the Sun Bowl. 2001: Placed 2nd in the Pac-10...Posted a 8-4 record that included 6 wins at home...Also recorded a 6-2 conference record and earned an invitation to the Holiday Bowl...Huskies faced 5 teams ranked in the final AP Poll, winning 3 of those games. 2000: Team placed 1st in the Pac-10...Posted the 1st 10-win season since the 1991 Huskies went 12-0 en route to the National Championship...Was Washington's 1st Rose Bowl title in 10 years and its 1st Rose Bowl appearance since 1992...UW trailed in 8 of its 11 wins, and pulled off 5 consecutive fourth-quarter comebacks. 1999: Huskies placed 2nd in the Pac-10...Neuheisel became the 1st UW coach to take his team to a bowl game during his inaugural season after guiding the Huskies to a 7-5 record, including an invitation to the 1999 Culligan Holiday Bowl.

1994-1998: (with Colorado) 1997: Buffaloes went 5-6, including 3-5 in the Big 12...Colorado outscored (300-295) and outgained (4,047-to-3,858) opponents...QB John Hessler recorded a 119.3 QB rating. 1996: With more of his recruits, the team posted a 10-2 record (2nd in Big 12 North), including a 33-21 victory over Washington in the Holiday Bowl...Buffaloes outscored opponents 319-199, as the team set a school record by winning 10 consecutive road games...The team produced 3 All-Americans, including Butkus Award winner Matt Russell. 1995: Buffaloes ranked No. 4 in the USA Today standings and No. 5 in the final Associated Press poll and were the 8th-highest rankings ever for a 1st-year coach...Guided the Buffalo to a 10-2 record (the best ever by a 1st-year CU coach) and an appearance in the Cotton Bowl (38-6 win over Oregon), becoming the 1st rookie Colorado coach to take a team to a bowl game. 1994: Was an assistant coach on Head Coach Bill McCartney's staff.

1988-1993: (with UCLA) Spent 6 years at his alma mater under his college coach Terry Donahue...Tutored former Dallas Cowboy QB Troy Aikman. 1988-89: Coached QBs. 1990-83: Coached WRs.

Personal: Began his collegiate career as a walk-on at UCLA, holding for K John Lee, and eventually battled Steve Bono for the starting QB job by his senior year...Secured the starting job 4 games into that regular season and led the Bruins to the Pac-10 championship in 1983, earning honorable mention All-Pac 10 honors...Led UCLA to a 45-9 victory against Illinois in the 1984 Rose Bowl and named the game's MVP...Was later inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame...Played for the San Antonio Gunslingers from 1984-85...Following the USFL, Rick used his NCAA scholarship award and enrolled in law school at Southern California, while working as a graduate assistant at UCLA, tutoring Troy Aikman...Earned a degree in political science at UCLA and a law degree from USC...Most thrilling personal moment came in October of 1996 when asked by Jimmy Buffet to play Margaritaville (on his guitar) onstage at Fiddlers Green in Denver.
