Sterling K. Brown

Sterling K. Brown is an actor known for his work in television, film, and theater. A graduate of Stanford University with a degree in drama, Brown earned his MFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He began his career in regional theater, performing at venues such as the Public Theater and Shakespeare in the Park in New York City, before securing a seven-year role as Dr. Roland Burton on the Lifetime series "Army Wives."

Brown gained national attention for his portrayal of prosecutor Christopher Darden in the FX limited series "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story," a performance that earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie and a Critics' Choice Award. He later joined the NBC drama "This Is Us" as Randall Pearson, a role that brought him a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Brown became the first actor in a broadcast television series to win the award in a decade and the first African American winner in 19 years. He also made history at the Golden Globes as the first African American actor to win Best Actor in a Television Drama and at the SAG Awards as the first African American actor to receive the award for Outstanding Male Actor in a Drama Series.

In film, Brown appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a role in "Black Panther" and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Cord Jefferson's comedy-drama "American Fiction." His film credits include "Waves," "Marshall," "Hotel Artemis," and the Netflix sci-fi action film "Atlas." Brown has also worked as a voice performer, contributing to Disney's "Frozen II" and earning an Emmy nomination for his voice work on the Amazon animated series "Invincible." Time magazine recognized him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Brown reunited with "This Is Us" creator Dan Fogelman for the Hulu post-apocalyptic political thriller "Paradise," in which he stars as Secret Service agent Xavier Collins and serves as executive producer. The series earned nominations at the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Drama Series and for Brown's lead performance. Off screen, Brown founded Indian Meadows Productions, a company focused on diversity and inclusion in film and television, and has been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign with the Ally for Equality Award for his advocacy on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community. He has delivered commencement addresses at major universities and launched the Aralean Brown Older Youth Readiness Fund to support young adults aging out of the foster care system.
