Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is a retired professional quarterback recognized for his achievements in the National Football League (NFL), including a Super Bowl championship and multiple franchise records. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the NFL Draft, Wilson quickly secured the starting quarterback position and delivered a standout rookie season, winning 11 games as a starter and setting a Seahawks rookie record with 3,118 passing yards and 26 touchdowns, along with nearly 500 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl and received both the Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Year and Sports Illustrated Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Wilson became only the fourth quarterback in NFL history to win a Super Bowl in his second season, leading the Seahawks to a 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. At 5 feet 11 inches, he became the shortest quarterback to win a Super Bowl. The following season, he became the first quarterback in NFL history to start two Super Bowls in his first three seasons. During his tenure in Seattle, Wilson earned Pro Bowl nominations in nine of his first 10 seasons, was named second-team All-Pro, and set franchise records in passer rating, attempts, completions, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. He is the only quarterback in NFL history with a winning record in each of his first nine seasons.

Known as a dual-threat playmaker, Wilson became the first NFL player to surpass both 40,000 passing yards and 5,000 rushing yards. Among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 passing attempts, his career passer rating of 99.8 ranks among the best in NFL history. He also recorded 35 fourth-quarter victories when trailing or tied, the most in the NFL since his debut across both regular season and postseason. After his time in Seattle, Wilson played for the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Giants, earning his tenth Pro Bowl selection with the Steelers.

Off the field, Wilson has been recognized for his community involvement. He received the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award and the Bart Starr Award for his character and leadership. Through the Why Not You Foundation, Wilson has supported education, children's health, and poverty alleviation, including significant donations to local nonprofits and Feeding America.

After 14 seasons in the NFL, Wilson transitioned to a broadcasting career, joining CBS Sports as an analyst on the Sunday NFL pregame show, "The NFL Today." His experience as a Super Bowl champion and his perspective on high-pressure moments contribute to his role as a football analyst.
