Kim Petras

Kim Petras is a German singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles, California, known for blending EDM, pop and dance-influenced electronic music. She began recording music as a teenager and first gained widespread attention as an independent artist before signing with major record labels later in her career.

From 2016 to 2020, Petras released music independently through her imprint, BunHead Records. During this period, she released a series of singles between 2017 and 2019 that she collectively called “Era 1,” including "I Don't Want It at All," "Heart to Break" and "1, 2, 3 Dayz Up." Several of these songs charted on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Songs chart. In 2019, she released her first two full-length projects independently, Clarity and Turn Off the Light.

Petras signed with Republic Records in 2021 after previously working under her own imprint. Her first major project under the label was the EP Slut Pop, released in 2022.

Her international breakthrough came through the 2022 collaboration "Unholy" with Sam Smith. The single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, making Petras the first openly transgender solo artist to top the U.S. chart.

Petras continues to release music and perform globally as a prominent figure in contemporary pop and dance music, contributing to the mainstream visibility of electronic pop and LGBTQ+ artists in the music industry.
