Kevin Tibbles

Kevin Tibbles is a Canadian-American journalist whose career in broadcast news spans nearly four decades, establishing him as a trusted and versatile correspondent in television journalism. Tibbles, originally from Canada, spent 15 years as a national correspondent for Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, where he covered major international stories including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the first Gulf War. Building on his foundation in international reporting, Tibbles served as a foreign correspondent for NBC News based in London before anchoring his work from Chicago, becoming a familiar presence across NBC platforms.

Tibbles' foreign and domestic news experience includes reporting from conflict zones in Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Rwanda, and Kosovo. He has reported from the streets of London during the funeral of Princess Diana, from Baghdad during coalition bombing runs, and from New Orleans during hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Tibbles was stationed in Chicago's Grant Park for the election of Barack Obama, providing viewers with insight into world events and their impact on daily life. In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, he was dispatched to Cairo to interview the father of hijacker Mohamed Atta, and then to Afghanistan to cover the war against the Taliban and its effects on civilians.

Tibbles has received four Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, the National Headliner Award, the Overseas Press Club Award, and recognition from the National Association of Black Journalists. Three of his Emmy Awards were for Outstanding Coverage of Breaking News, including his reporting on the floods in Mozambique, the Israel-Lebanon conflict, and the financial crisis. He was also presented the Headliner Award from Ryerson University School of Journalism. After a decades-long career covering stories around the world, Tibbles retired from NBC News, leaving a legacy in broadcast journalism that continues to influence the field.
