James Spader

James Spader is known in the entertainment industry for his portrayals of morally complex and unconventional characters in both film and television. With a career spanning more than four decades, Spader has delivered performances that have earned critical recognition and a dedicated audience. He left high school to pursue acting, supporting himself with various jobs while studying at the Michael Chekhov Acting Studio in New York City.

Spader first gained widespread attention in film with his role as Steff in "Pretty in Pink." He further established his presence with "Sex, Lies, and Videotape," which won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, where Spader also received the Best Actor award. His film credits include "White Palace," "Stargate," "Wall Street," "Less Than Zero," "Crash," and "Secretary," reflecting his willingness to take on challenging roles across genres such as drama, science fiction, and thriller.

Spader's transition to television included his portrayal of Alan Shore in "The Practice," earning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He continued the role in "Boston Legal," receiving two additional Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Spader also appeared on "The Office" as Robert California and starred as Raymond Reddington in NBC's "The Blacklist," a crime thriller series that ran for more than 200 episodes and earned him Golden Globe nominations. In addition, he voiced the character Ultron in Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" and "VisionQuest."

Spader made his Broadway debut in David Mamet's "Race." His work across film, television, and theater has contributed to his reputation as a versatile figure in Hollywood, recognized for his roles in drama, crime thrillers, and science fiction.
