Jaden McDaniels

Jaden McDaniels is a dynamic two-way forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves, known for his elite perimeter defense, length, and growing offensive versatility. Born in Federal Way, Washington, McDaniels has become a cornerstone of the Timberwolves' young core alongside Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns.

McDaniels played high school basketball, where he quickly rose to national prominence. As a senior, he averaged 23.3 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 blocks per game, earning honors such as Class 4A Player of the Year and Washington Gatorade Player of the Year. He also participated in the McDonald’s All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic, solidifying his status as a five-star recruit and one of the top players in the 2019 class.

McDaniels committed to the University of Washington, where he played one season (2019–20). In 31 games, he averaged 13.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 2.1 assists per game.

Selected 28th overall in the 2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, McDaniels was traded on draft night to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since joining the Timberwolves, he has developed into a premier defender, often tasked with guarding the opposing team's top perimeter players. In the 2024–25 regular season, McDaniels averaged 12.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game, shooting 47.7% from the field. His defensive prowess earned him a spot on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2024. His defensive versatility and timely scoring were crucial to the Timberwolves' deep playoff run during the 2025 NBA Playoffs, particularly in the Western Conference Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
