David Goggins

David Goggins is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL, ultra-endurance athlete, motivational speaker, and bestselling author known for his expertise in mental toughness, physical endurance, and personal transformation. Goggins is the only member of the U.S. Armed Forces to complete SEAL training, U.S. Army Ranger School, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller training. He graduated from Army Ranger School with the Enlisted Honor Man distinction, receiving a 100 percent peer evaluation. Goggins began participating in ultra-running to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation following the loss of 12 Navy SEALs during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan, which marked the start of his career in endurance sports.

Goggins has competed in more than 60 ultra-marathons, triathlons, and ultra-triathlons, setting course records and frequently placing in the top five. He has completed several of the most challenging endurance events in the United States, including the Ultra-Trail Du Mont-Blanc and the IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii. Goggins is a former Guinness World Record holder for completing 4,030 pull-ups in 17 hours. As an ultramarathon runner, ultra-distance cyclist, and triathlete, he was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame for his achievements in sports and service in the United States Armed Forces. Goggins's personal journey includes overcoming significant obstacles, such as losing more than 100 pounds in three months to qualify for SEAL BUD/S, despite starting at 300 pounds and battling asthma. He completed BUD/S on his third attempt due to illness and injuries, demonstrating a commitment to perseverance that defines his story. Goggins shares his experiences and philosophy through his writing and public speaking. His book, "Can't Hurt Me: Master Your Mind and Defy the Odds," became a New York Times bestseller, detailing his life story, challenges, and approach to mental resilience. Goggins created the 4x4x48 Challenge—running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours—to test both physical and mental endurance. This challenge has attracted participants worldwide, often in support of charitable causes. In addition to his work as a public speaker, Goggins serves as an Advanced Emergency Technician and wildland firefighter. He has received recognition such as induction into the International Sports Hall of Fame and the VFW Americanism Award for his military service.
