Detailed Biography of Rich Little
|
|
Rich's extraordinary impressions are legendary for his superb comic timing and are perfected to the tiniest detail. His portrayals of personalities range from Bill Clinton to Kermit the Frog.
Rich Little maintains one of the most rigorous schedules of personal appearances in the industry taking him to such diverse audiences as his performance for the Prince and Princess of Wales, and to such entertainment capitals as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Reno, Lake Tahoe, Myrtle Beach, SC., Branson, MO. and Hawaii. He still finds time to support various charities close to his heart most notably as spokesperson for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Rich's live performances are both hilarious and evocative of nostalgic moments. Blending comedy and song, he mimics a number of singers including Frank Sinatra., Bing Crosby, Neil Diamond and Tom Jones. His tributes to legends such as Humphrey Bogart, John Wayne, Clark Gable and Cary Grant are great favorites with his audiences. He starred in his own weekly television series, The Rich Little Show on NBC. Past specials include Rich Little's Christmas Carol for Home Box Office. He played all the roles in this version of the Dickens classic, winning top prizes at the Montreux Festival in Switzerland and gaining an Emmy Award in the United States. He has also starred in other programs for HBO, including The Great Pretenders, Rich Little Come Laugh With Me and Rich Little's Robin Hood - a one-man show with Rich portraying Groucho Marx ~ Robin Hood, Carol Channing as Maid Marian and Richard Nixon as King Richard.
Rich has hosted two syndicated television shows, Making It Happen and You Asked For It, and has guest-starred on several primetime series, including Fantasy Island and Murder She Wrote. He was also a regular on the comedy series Love On A Rooftop, The John Davidson Show, The Julie Andrews Hour and Kopykats a popular series with impressionists which Rich later adapted into a long-running Las Vegas stage show. Always interested in doing different things, Rich has played himself on a number of episodes of daytime TV shows such as The Young and the Restless as well as NBC's Santa Barbara. Rich has recently cast to portray Johnny Carson in the HBO movie The Late Shift, which deals with the race to succeed Carson as host of The Tonight Show.
Rich Little has twice received the Cleveland Armory Award as Best Guest on a Television Talk Show and was named Comedy Star of the Year by the American Guild of Variety Artists. His comedy album, The First Family Rides Again" - a spoof of the Reagan family, who are among his biggest fans - was a million seller. Rich Little has written and produced nine comedy records during his career to date.
