Forbidden Broadway is the sensationally funny lampoon of the Great White Way currently celebrating its 20th smash year in New York. This award-winning show produces some of the best, truest, and funniest material in the country and has served as a career launcher for many of its cast members. Broadway's biggest shows, brightest stars and notorious flops are given the once-over by a dazzling cast of comic chameleons, all set to the tunes of favorite Broadway Showstoppers. Forbidden Broadway is a one-stop ticket to non-stop laughs.
The New York Times calls Forbidden Broadway "Absolutely Hilarious!" and Time Magazine recently named it "One of the Year's 10 Best." In an era where Broadway shows have gotten larger, louder and more dependent on special effects, Forbidden Broadway has audiences celebrating the joy of talent, humor, and musical comedy know-how. The company has played to rave reviews at Jewish federation and community center events around the country.
Currently, Forbidden Broadway turns up the heat in "FORBIDDEN BROADWAY: SVU Special Victims Unit!", featuring spoofs of “Wicked,” “Assassins,” "Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “The Lion King,” The Tony Awards, “Avenue Q” and “Hairspray.” There are also spoofs of Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman and Idina Menzel.

Forbidden Broadway has been a vital part of New York theater since 1982 when its creator, Gerard Alessandrini, put together an act to show off the talents of some friends and himself. He thought it would be great fun to lampoon the Broadway stars of the day, and Forbidden Broadway was born. Hailed for its hilarious writing and hot young cast, critics and audiences were wowed and Forbidden Broadway has since become New York's longest running musical comedy revue. Forbidden Broadway has won countless awards, including Obie, Outer Critics Circle, and the 2001 Drama Desk award for best musical revue. Many of its victims (stars and casts) make a point of stopping by to see what Alessandrini has done to them. Recent visitors include Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell, Alec Baldwin, Bea Arthur, Stockard Channing, Gene Hackman and Mary Tyler-Moore.
