Detailed Biography of Douglas Schoen
|
|
ouglas E. Schoen has worked for the past 30 years creating and developing winning communication messages and campaigns for Fortune 500 executives, political leaders, and heads of state, from Bill and Hillary Clinton to Mike Bloomberg and Jon Corzine.
Dr. Schoen’s work has taken him throughout all 50 states as well as around the world: Bermuda, Columbia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Greece, Indonesia, Israel, the Philippines, Serbia & Montenegro, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, Ukraine, and Venezuela, among others.
From 1994 to 2000, Dr. Schoen was President William Jefferson Clinton’s research and strategic consultant and has been widely credited with creating and effectively communicating the message that turned around the President’s political fortunes between 1994 and 1996 and in the aftermath of the impeachment proceeding.
For his efforts on behalf of President Clinton, Dr. Schoen was named Pollster of the Year in 1996 by the American Association of Political Consultants.
In both 2001 and 2005, Dr. Schoen was New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s lead strategic advisor and was responsible for positioning the Mayor to win an unforeseen victory on the heels of September 11Th as well as a historic election victory this past November 2005.
Besides his extensive political work throughout the United States and around the world, Dr. Schoen has also provided preeminent strategic research to an extensive list of corporate clients, including AOL Time Warner, Procter & Gamble, Major League Baseball, AT&T, Frito Lay, and Citibank.
Dr. Schoen has published a book on British politics, Enoch Powell and the Powellites, a biography of the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Pat: A Biography of Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and a photographic history of US Presidential campaigns, On the Campaign Trail: The Long Road of Presidential Politics, 1860-2004.
A magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College, a graduate of Harvard Law School, Dr. Schoen has his doctorate in philosophy from Oxford University in England.
Dr. Schoen serves on the Board of multiple charitable organizations, including Phoenix House, Public Color, the USC School of Communication, the International Crisis Group, and Street Squash.
