A Ford Model’s superstar, Ms. Brinkley has appeared on over 500 magazine covers, both in the United States and Europe.
She has been the subject of articles appearing in Life – the cover of its best selling issue ever – US, People, Time, Vogue, Newsweek, New York, Paris Match, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Ladies’ Home Journal, Rolling Stone, Redbook, Family Weekly, Cosmopolitan, Photo and many others. Harper’s Bazaar has named Christie one of the world’s most beautiful women three times.
On at least two occasions Glamour and Harper’s Bazaar have her high on their “Ten Best Bodies” list. Christie was the first model to ever appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated for three years in a row and posed for several years as a part of that publication's annual swimsuit issue.
Featured exclusively in the first “Sports Illustrated Calendars,” Christie broke all calendar sales with her own “Christie Brinkley Calendar” and an equally successful follow-up calendar.
Most recently, Christie has been featured in and on the cover of several magazines, including InStyle, Redbook, McCall’s, Ladies Home Journal and Good Housekeeping.
In October 1996, Christie signed on with NuSkin International, global marketer of personal care and nutrition products, and was announced as their first spokesperson for the company’s Personal Care Division. She is currently promoting the company’s product lines and making several national and international event appearances, advertisements and photo shoots on their behalf while developing her own line of personal care products.
The first product in the “Christie Brinkley” brand line is her fragrance “Believe” which was launched in the Spring of 1998.
Christie recently filmed a third infomercial for Total Gym. Her first infomercial for Total Gym was the number one grossing infomercial of 1997.
Christie Brinkley was the host of “Celebrity Weddings InStyle,” the highest rated special in Lifetime’s history. She appeared on NBC’s “Mad About You,” which turned out to be NBC’s most highly rated halfhour episode since the final broadcast of “The Cosby Show!”
Other television appearances include “Letterman,” “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee,” “The Tonight Show” and Barbara Walter’s annual Oscar Night Special. In 1992, Christie also hosted a daily lifestyle program on CNN, “Living in the 90s – with Christie Brinkley” where she scripted and filmed her own segments on style, health, travel, food and entertainment.
In addition, she created and scripted a section of the style program entitled “Christie’s Tips,” where she shared beauty and fashion suggestions with her audience.
Christie has also been the subject of several documentaries including the HBO program “Beautiful Baby, Beautiful,” and the “E! Model Show.” She has also been the focus of segments on “20/20,” “Entertainment Tonight” and ABC’s “Wide World of Sports.”
Christie has made appearances as a presenter for diverse events such as the Men’s Fashion Awards, the Academy Awards Show, the Billboard Awards and the Supermodels of the World Contest – Christie hosted both the American and French versions of the show. She also hosted the first ever Pay-Per-View Special Supermodel of the Year Contest, which aired in October of 1994.
Ms. Brinkley, who made her acting debut starring opposite Chevy Chase in the hit feature film “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” also appears in the sequel, “Vegas Vacation.” She re-appears as the mysterious lady in the red Ferrari. Christie was also featured in Billy Joel’s hit videos “Uptown Girl” and “Keeping the Faith,” as well as in Mick Jones’ video “Just Wanna Hold.”
Always in demand as a model, Ms. Brinkley has held major contracts with Chanel No. 19, Prell, MasterCard, Breck and Diet Coke as well as the National Milk Council’s campaign in which she is the only participant featured in two ads – one solo and one with her children.
Also, Anheuser Busch chose her as the first woman spokesperson for a major marketing campaign. Ms. Brinkley has had the longest running cosmetic contract with Cover Girl. Together they have launched, “Cover Girl’s Guide to Basic Make-Up with Christie Brinkley.” The video received rave reviews and was chosen as an “Outstanding Video Pick” by Siskel and Ebert.
Raised in Malibu, California, Christie moved to Paris at the age of eighteen to study art. It was while working in that city as a professional illustrator that she was “discovered” by a photographer.
Yet despite her tremendous success as a model, Christie’s interests and activities in many areas remain strong. “Christie Brinkley’s Outdoor Beauty and Fitness Book,” which she wrote and illustrated herself was a national best seller. She also wrote a well-received article for TV Guide. In addition to drawing and working in watercolors, Ms. Brinkley is also an accomplished photographer.
She was Don King’s ring photographer for several major boxing events. Her photogenic work on boxers and auto racing has appeared in Ring Magazine, Photo, Autosprint, Kodak’s Ampersand and the September1994 issue of American Photographer.
She also photographed her own series of baseball cards for Pinnacle featuring the World Series Championship team. In 1993, Christie painted the cover art for Billy Joel’s triple platinum album “River of Dreams.” Her artwork has received rave reviews and is a featured part of the “River of Dreams” promotion and tour merchandising.
Rolling Stone Magazine’s 1993 poll selected the artwork as one of their “Top Picks.”
Christie is also an entrepreneur/inventor. She holds the patent on special educational toys for toddlers. For Nouveau Eyewear Christie created a line of colorful eyewear for active women, “Christie Brinkley Perspectives.” Her line was launched in March of 1994 in the USA. The line was so successful stateside that she has started selling in the UK and Canada. Her jewelry collection is manufactured by Swank.
Christie is the new and first spokesperson for NuSkin International’s Personal Care Division where she actively represents and promotes the company’s product lines and consults with NuSkin on industry and product trends, new product development and marketing activities.
Ms. Brinkley is an active and dedicated supporter of NuSkin’s “Force for Good” campaign, Greenpeace, The Cousteau Society, Peconic Land Trust and the DNC. She has also made an appearance on behalf of SANE, a group dedicated to the cause of nuclear disarmament. Christie is presently featured in PSAs benefiting the March of Dimes and was honored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation for her efforts on their behalf.
Saving the best for last, Ms. Brinkley is the proud parent of three children: daughter Alexa Ray, born on December 29, 1985, son Jack Paris, born on June 2, 1995, and daughter Sailor Lee, born on July 2, 1998.
