Detailed Biography of Jim Nantz
|

Jim Nantz also serves as the lead play-by-play announcer for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. He has handled play-by-play at the U.S. Open for eight years overall.
Jim Nantz, a regular golf announcer for CBS Sports since 1986, assumed the anchor position for the Network's golf coverage in April 1994. He has hosted the Network's coverage of the Masters Tournament since 1989. His other host duties have included CBS Sports' weekend daytime coverage of the 1992 and 1994 Olympic Winter Games and the Network's college football studio show, as well as the Cotton Bowl (1985-88) and the Heisman Trophy Award show (1986-88). He co-hosted NCAA basketball tournament coverage and hosted the NCAA Final Four and championship games (1986-90).
In 1989 and 1990, Jim Nantz served as lead play-by-play announcer for the Network's college football coverage--including broadcasts of the Cotton Bowl.
Nantz's duties for CBS Radio Sports include daily reports for SPORTSTIME and play-by-play for CBS Radio Sports' coverage of the NFL. Nantz was graduated in 1981 with a B.A. degree in radio/television from the University of Houston, where he played on the golf team. While at Houston, Nantz held a variety of broadcasting jobs, which led to sportscaster positions at the city's KHOU-TV and KTRH Radio.
He was born May 17, 1959 in Charlotte, N.C., and grew up in Colts Neck, N.J. He and his wife, Lorrie, live in Fairfield County, Conn. They have one daughter.
