Iain Dale Biography
Iain Dale is a British political broadcaster, commentator, and author with a career spanning journalism, publishing, and media. Dale began his professional journey as a research assistant to a Conservative Member of Parliament before becoming a political blogger, publisher, and broadcaster. He launched "Iain Dale's Diary" and became one of the country's early political bloggers, which led to appearances on Sky, CNN, and various radio stations. In political publishing, Dale opened Politico's Bookstore and Coffee House in Westminster, a venue that became a hub for political discussion. He later founded Biteback Publishing, a political publisher that has released more than 600 books.
Dale has been a key voice on LBC, previously hosting the Drivetime show and anchoring coverage of UK general elections, US presidential elections, and both the Brexit and Scottish referendums. He presents the Evening Show on LBC Radio, airing Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and hosts the debate program "Cross Question." Dale has anchored the station's coverage of multiple UK general elections, US presidential races, and referendums. Beyond LBC, he is a regular contributor to Good Morning Britain, Question Time, and Newsnight, and serves as a visiting professor of politics and broadcasting at the University of East Anglia.
Dale has been recognized for his work in political broadcasting, being shortlisted for Audio Presenter of the Year at the Broadcasting Press Guild, named Radio Presenter of the Year twice at the Arqiva Awards, and receiving a Sony Radio Award for Best Interview of the Year. He has interviewed prime ministers, global leaders, celebrities, and members of the public. Dale co-hosts the podcast "Where Politics Meets History" with historian Dr. Tessa Dunlop and recorded 500 episodes of the award-winning "For the Many" podcast with former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith.
As an author and editor, Dale has contributed to more than 50 books, including "Why Can't We All Get Along," "The Prime Ministers," "The Presidents," and "The Dictators." His works also include "Why Can't We All Get Along: Shout Less, Listen More" and "The Prime Ministers 1721-2020: Three Hundred Years of Political Leadership." His titles include "Memories of Margaret Thatcher," "Margaret Thatcher," "British By-Elections," and "The Taoiseach." Drawing on 25 years of experience in political radio, television, punditry, and digital media, Dale examines developments in political media and communication.
