Todd E. Pressman Biography

Dr. Todd E. Pressman is a clinical psychologist, speaker, and international seminar leader whose career centers on understanding the roots of human fear and suffering. Pressman earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in psychology from Saybrook Institute, now Saybrook University. His studies in the consciousness movement and early influences from his father, whose teachers were students of Sigmund Freud, contributed to his development of holistic psychological principles.

Pressman’s professional journey includes global study of wisdom and healing traditions, such as time with a Zen master in Kyoto, a Zoroastrian priest in Mumbai, firewalkers in Sri Lanka, and fakirs in Bali. His training includes an internship in Gestalt therapy at Esalen Institute and work with Stanislav Grof in the Spiritual Emergency Network program. Pressman has also worked with Olympic athletes and CEOs, informing his approach to performance psychology and fulfillment. This diverse background led to his signature framework, which draws on Michelangelo’s ideal of releasing the authentic self from imposed identity.

Pressman is recognized for developing the Deconstructing Anxiety framework, detailed in his written works.
